STATEMENT ON DRAFT BUDGET

STATEMENT ON DRAFT BUDGET

Bungay Town Council Statement  on Draft budget 2023- 2024

The Town Council is required by law to prepare a budget to calculate its precept requirement. The Precept is the tax that the Town Council’s charge their local electors to meet their budget requirements.

Town Councils do not receive any direct funding from central government and rely on their Precept plus any other income they generate from services or facilities they provide. The Town Council Precept is part of the Council Tax and is collected from local electors via their Council Tax payments.

The budget must give details of planned expenditure for the financial year ensuring that financial resources are aligned to the priorities of the Council. The Town Council is keen to provide local services for Bungay residents and always provide value for money for the Council Taxpayer.

The Town Council are consulting on the proposed budget for the forthcoming financial year and how the Town Council spends its Community Infrastructure Levy. TO VIEW THE FULL STATEMENT PLEASE CLICK HERE

BUNGAY NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN ADOPTED

BUNGAY NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN ADOPTED

Bungay residents voted overwhelmingly to accept the Bungay Neighbourhood Development Plan (BNDP) with an acceptance of 85% of the votes cast. John Adams, Chair of the BNDP said “I attended the counting of the votes and it soon became obvious there was a clear acceptance of the plan, the only question was by what margin?”.

This is a great result for Bungay as it will mean extra revenue for Bungay. The estimate being £100,000’s. We have to say a big thank you to all the volunteers and councillors who have worked on this project to bring it to fruition.

We have several projects on which to spend this money ranging from;

Improved community transport using electric vehicles

Upgrading council parks with with modern child and adult activity equipment

Adding land for use as allotments

Support and increase community assets

Promoting a green corridor
