THE TOWN CLERK

Wendy Alcock joined us as Bungay's Town Clerk on 11th October 2021 having served as Town Clerk at Eye Town Council for the past 4 1/2 years. She has spent her whole working life in local government at county and district level, and more recently with the NHS.

Wendy originates from Bungay with her family still living in the town. Wendy said "It is a complete honour to be clerk for my home town, and I look forward to working with the council and residents to make Bungay a better place to live, work and visit".

The role of a Town Clerk is to ensure that the Town Council conducts its business properly.  Daily tasks are extremely varied and the Clerk wll provide independent, objective and professional advice and support on a whole range of issues.  The Clerk for Bungay Town Council is also the Responsible Financial Officer and, as such, is responsible for the preparation of budgets and the balancing and conciliation of the Council's accounts.  Bungay Town Council's Town Clerk is Jeremy Burton.
