THE TOWN CLERK


The role of a Town Clerk is to ensure that the Town Council conducts its business properly.  Daily tasks are extremely varied and the Clerk wll provide independent, objective and professional advice and support on a whole range of issues.  The Clerk for Bungay Town Council is also the Responsible Financial Officer and, as such, is responsible for the preparation of budgets and the balancing and conciliation of the Council's accounts.  Bungay Town Council's Town Clerk is Jeremy Burton. 

Jeremy has previously been a Town Councillor for Attleborough Town Council  where he was Mayor for three separate terms of office.  During this term, one of his main achievements as Mayor was seeing the adoption of the Attleborough Neighbourhood Development Plan which included the construction of approximately 4000 new houses.  Since joining Bungay Town Council, Jeremy has achieved his CiLCA qualification and, in terms of clerking experience, he has previously worked as Clerk to Roydon Parish Council.

Prior to this, Jeremy worked in the banking sector for more than 35 years covering Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
